Location: Lilongwe, Kasungu, Dowa and Dedza districts

Number of Participants (or farmers): 350 fish farmers and 5 fingerlings producers (34% women fish farmers)


Project Description:

There are two phases to this project. First, 350 fish farmers and pond owners from the Lilongwe, Kasungu, Dowa and Dedza district were identified and chosen to participate in the following 3-day technical training activities:

The fish farmers receive additional coaching to support their application of their learning.

The second phase is the selection of 5 fingerlings producers to participate in a 4-day hatchery operations training. The farmers are then equipped with hatchery resources including hapa nets, sampling net, scoop nets, weighing scales, and graders. Moreover, they are provided with high-quality brooders from a nationally recognized hatchery to stock their ponds. Data is continuously collected to monitor how improved technology and applied learning increase fish production.
