Project Summary

The Smart Fish Production and Processing for a Green Economy (Green – Profish) project focuses on introducing climate-smart technologies to 30 direct beneficiaries, including fishing clubs comprising primarily women and youth. The technologies to be promoted include:

  1. briquette-based smoking kilns
  2. improved fish drying racks
  3. climate-resilient fish ponds

The project aims to improve resource efficiency, reduce reliance on firewood, and foster sustainable livelihoods through capacity-building and technology adoption by training local fishing clubs and other community members.

Indirect beneficiaries include community members who will learn climate-smart techniques, community members buying briquettes for fish processing and home use, and consumers of the processed fish. The project will be implemented with a strong emphasis on gender equality, youth involvement, and inclusive participation, ensuring the sustainability and long-term impact of the intervention.
