Promotion of climate smart fish processing technologies

Number of participants: 70 women, 200 beneficiaries
Location: Nkhotakota
About: This project supported women entrepreneurs to increase their capacity to process fish using climate smart methods and manage their fish businesses. 70 women were directly reached in Nkhotakota and more than 200 people were either directly or indirectly positively impacted.

Scaling up adaptive capacity of rural communities to climate change through innovative Integrated Agriculture Aquaculture (IAA)

Location: Nkhotakota
About: The aim of the project was to reach and enhance adaptive capacity to climate change of at least 250 households. Under this project, 50 fish ponds were constructed integrated with crops and livestock and beneficiaries were linked to markets and financial institutions.

Aquaculture Value Chain Project (AVCP)

Number of participants: 4000 fish farmers
Location: Lilongwe, Ntchisi, Dedza, Mchinji, Dowa, Salima and Kasungu districts
About: Fish farmers were trained and coached on all aspects of aquaculture along the value chain. Training and coaching focused on adapting fish farming techniques in a changing climate, effective management of fish farms, and increasing fish production.

Supporting rural youth with capacity to manage IAA system

Number of participants: 50 youth
Location: M’bwatalika in Lilongwe
About: Kawjo trained the youth farmers on managing pond aquaculture integrated with crop and fruits for climate change adaptation.
