Zikani Kaunda

Dr. Zikani Kaunda is an accomplished education and development expert with over 22 years of experience in managing and implementing education, health, and community development programs. He most recently served as Chief of Party for the USAID-funded Strengthening Higher Education Access in Malawi Activity (SHEAMA), a $10 million project aimed at improving education access for vulnerable populations. Dr. Kaunda has led key USAID projects, including a $23.9 million initiative to enhance early grade reading in Malawi. His expertise spans girls’ education, child labor elimination, HIV/AIDS prevention, and gender equality.

He has collaborated with governments, development partners, and policymakers to improve education quality and access in Malawi, contributing to national policies on community participation and girls' education. Dr. Kaunda also has extensive consultancy experience, working with organizations such as USAID, UNICEF, and DFID. He holds a PhD in Comparative International Development and Education from the University of Minnesota
